Three Peaks Challenge for LATCH Children's Cancer Charity

Jack and his two brothers-in-law are taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for LATCH Children's Cancer Charity! ( www.latchwales.org )

The cause is incredibly close to his family's heart as his nephew, Joey, Romano’s little boy, was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer aged one years old, just as the COVID-19 pandemic began.

It was a helpless time for Jack and his family, unable to offer any support in person whilst Joey was going through treatment, but charities like LATCH provided incredible support when nobody else could.

Thankfully, Joey is in full recovery now, although he still undergoes many scans.

Now they would love to give back and help ensure LATCH can continue to help other families in need so on 30th August they have decided to walk the three highest peaks in the UK to raise money for LATCH.

LATCH are a brilliant charity that support children and their families who are being treated for Cancer. Google will be updating its Core Web Vitals metrics on March 12, 2024, by introducing Interaction to Next Paint (INP) as a new measure of responsiveness to replace First Input Delay (FID).

For those unfamiliar with INP, FID, or the Core Web Vitals, we recently put together a comprehensive guide to assist in understanding these metrics. Both FID and INP are used to evaluate the responsiveness and interactivity of a website, forming part of Google's broader Core Web Vitals initiative, which aims to assess the quality of the user experience on any given website.

Websites with strong FID or INP scores are often characterised as "fast" and "snappy," whereas those with lower scores may be considered "sluggish" and "laggy." Essentially, these scores focus on the time it takes for a website element to respond after user interaction.

Consider a button as an example. Upon clicking a button, one would anticipate a color change to indicate that the click was acknowledged. If this color transition were to take a mere second, the website's performance might appear sluggish, leading to a subpar user experience. It is important to note that while FID and INP share similarities, they are not identical metrics.

Ask Your Customers for a Review

The easiest way to get a new review is to just ask your customers directly. I am sure that most of them will be happy to help after they have received a fantastic product or service from you. A direct link for customers to review your business can be found on your Google business profile listing.

Send a Follow Up Email

Once a customer has completed the purchase process, or you have completed a job with them, why not send them a thank you email that includes a polite request for them to leave you a review on Google. You can add the direct link to your email to make it as easy as possible for your customers.

It may not be a priority for your customer to leave you a review so don't be afraid to follow up with them after a few weeks if they haven't left the review.

Add a 'Call to Action' to your Website

Another way to get more Google Reviews is to add a 'Review' button or 'Google Custom Review Link' to your website (ask your website provider, or ask us , if you need help with this) - this will allow and prompt users to submit a review to your Google Business Profile directly from your website.

Use Social Media

You can use your social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to showcase reviews you have received and ask your connections if they mind leaving you a review. Perhaps explain the benefits and offer a review of their business in return (as long as you can confidentially recommend it/them of course).

As a general rule of thumb, you should redesign your website once every two to three years. If you have just launched a new website or you have had your website for a while, one of the key questions you should always ask yourself is, how do I promote it?

We have put together a list of 10 ways you can promote your website and help drive traffic.

1. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO is the process of increasing your website's visibility on the search engines (Google etc.) by optimising every page to include keywords and phrases that users are searching for.

To achieve this there are two main areas to consider when it comes to SEO - On-Page (or onsite) and Off-Page SEO.

On-Page SEO - This is everything you can see on your website pages, from your copy, headers, images, video, meta information (the link and description you see under every Google search result listing) to the urls of each page, mobile friendliness and speed of loading.

Off-Page SEO - Areas to consider here are who is linking to your website, e.g. directories or social media etc. increasing the amount of links to your site will enhance it's popularity and importance with search engines.

6. Submit your Site to Google My Business

Google My Business is a free business profile on Google Search and Maps. If you haven't setup a profile already there may be a listing already which you can claim.

Search for your business on Google and look for the business profile on the right hand side of the results page.

You can add your all business contact information as well your opening hours, service area, images and reviews.

Make sure you complete the profile fully in your Google My Business account - you can add keywords to your attributes and overview which will boost your local SEO.

7. You Email Signature

Your email signature should be treated like a n online business card. Make sure your signature includes a link to your website, your logo, social media platforms and contact information so that every email you send is promoting your business.

8. Google Ads

Use Pay Per Click, or Google Adwords as it is also known, to bring traffic to your website from Google.

Adwords work by choosing keywords that you want to trigger your adverts. e.g. Web Design. You setup a budget for each time your ad is clicked and track your conversion rate - this could be a call direct from the ad or user making contact through your website enquiry forms.

Improve the Power of your Blog

We always like to remind our clients how important adding a blog posts is. It is a great way of adding unique content to your website and improves website SEO massively as all search engines love content, especially content that is full of key terms and phrases that users are searching for.

It is really important to make sure that each post is made as easy as possible to be discoverable online. You can improve your blog post SEO by setting a unique meta title for your posts.

So what is a Meta Title?

Meta titles are the titles that help the search engines understand what a page is all about. They are the title that is listed on search results: the actual link you click on from Google to a website (see below).

Until recently, when posting a blog in Website Sorted content management system (CMS) the meta title was the same as the post title. For example, the title of this blog 'Improve the Power of your Blog' , would also be what search engines displayed in their results.

Now, our clients can edit the Meta title field so it is the optimal length and includes a call to action. E.g. Improve the Power of your Blog - Learn Blogging Tips Now!

Optimal length is between 45 and 65 characters

Why can't I find my new website on Google yet?

When we launch a new website we often get asked why the website is not listed on google yet.

A quick summary of how Google works

A typical Google search takes less than a second and can include 100's of steps before you see the list of results. To understand how Google will find your website, it is useful to understand the principles of how a Google search works. The short Google video below explains the principles and it will help you understand how to add search engine friendly content to your website.

How does this help you?

Below you will find the main points from Matt's video and some additional information to help explain this a little further:

When you complete a Google search, you are searching Google's index of the web, not the web itself
You are live on the web with your new website but now you need to get into Google's index, which is why your site isn't visible on Google straight away
The Google 'spiders' need to index your website
‍The 'spiders' need to find your website first to include it in the index
The 'spiders' crawl the web (billions of pages) periodically looking for new websites. This happens automatically and you don't need to submit your site to google however, it doesn't happen instantly and it may take a little while for google to find you!
The spiders use various methods to find, index and rank your website
‍Your website needs to have good quality construction providing easy access to content
You need relevant content that contains your key words in a manner that reads well for humans (not simply listing keywords on a page) and;
preferably other (good quality) external pages linking to your website - this is like a popularity ranking
An important factor is the content/text that you include in your web pages - if you don't include the keywords, the 'spiders' won't think your website is important for that particular keyword and you won't be found!
You have made it into the index; Google uses over 200 queries to decide exactly where a website will rank

Anti-Spam Solution

On March 30th, following a month-long beta period with positive feedback, we launched a new anti-spam solution. The goal was to provide our customers with a more secure email experience by drastically reducing inbound email spam, phishing, and malware.

The new solution is successfully catching twice as much spam, and its core technology provides a framework to continuously improve and develop increasingly sophisticated filtering. The launch was an important step toward a better user experience.

Future Improvements

We have a number of planned improvements, including the release of a “user-feedback retraining” system. This new system will further increase spam-scanning accuracy for our customers and this process will simply involve:

moving false positives to their inbox (or using the "not spam" button in webmail)
moving any s pam that landed in their inbox to their spam folder (or using the "spam" button in webmail)

This user behaviour is already being tracked, and, with the release of the user-feedback retraining system, this data will begin to inform actual adjustments to our spam filtering rules. We’re confident that the short- and long-term results will be a better email experience for your customers.

For end-users who rely on email forwarding, we are researching ways to accept and deliver more spam instead of rejecting it outright, while protecting the safety, security, and reputation of our email platform.

We will also adjust rules on our inbound and outbound servers on an ongoing basis to maintain low levels of false positives, while at the same time providing accurate spam detection.

Fifteen Years in Business - The Story of Website Sorted

Fifteen years in business, happy birthday to us! To celebrate this milestone our director Neil Kinnerly thought he would share the story of how the business started back in March 2006 and how it has developed to become Website Sorted.

How the Business Started

For fifteen years I was employed by Somerfield, the Food Retailer, as their Logistics Commercial Director. During 2005 my career took an unplanned change of direction as Somerfield were subject to a Venture Capital buyout. The business was sold off ‘piece by piece’ and I, along with 25,000 colleagues, was made redundant and for me this was the opportunity that I had been waiting for to create a business for myself!

I took six months off with my family but used the time wisely to review possible business opportunities. I considered a small parcel carrier, retail shop and a technology company, but very quickly came to the conclusion that the Internet was going to present the best business opportunity. These were early days for Google but it was already clear that businesses would need to have a strong search engine presence to survive!

On 6 ^th March 2006 I registered my new business, The Best of Bristol Ltd – an online directory for ‘local businesses’. Over a period of five years the business directory grew to represent over 250 Bristol businesses , all of whom we knew personally, and it became clear that we could offer additional business opportunities for our customers by brokering introductions between them...

Seeking New Opportunities

On the 10 ^th December 2009 we hosted the first ‘Best of Bristol Business Exhibition’ with 25 exhibitors – an opportunity for our clients to meet, network and do business! The format proved to be extremely popular with events held twice a year and by 2016 with 150 exhibitors, firmly established as Bristol’s largest business exhibition. With competition setting up rival events and the business diversifying into SEO and Website Design, we decided to call it a day and we ran our last business event on Tuesday 13 ^th September 2016.

With a growing business portfolio and always looking for new business opportunities, the decision was made to offer website design & SEO services. This was an obvious progression to offer complimentary web services and Website Sorted was launched in September 2009 with our first client website going live on 22 ^nd October 2009.

Google's Core Web Vitals

One of the biggest SEO changes that Google is planning will target site performance and site user experience and it is called Google Core Web Vitals. Google are planning to use three different metrics to measure the users experience when browsing a website and are going to make it a rating factor as part of their search algorithm, starting from May 2021.

What is a good experience? How do you measure it?

This is obviously an objective question because the experience of one user can be very different to another so Google have identified what they believe to be the key metrics:

Speed at which I first see something happening
How long am I waiting?
When I interact with it, does it respond?
How stable or consistent does it seem?
It is slow or laggy when scrolling?

There are other subjective measures that deliver a good web experience, like the content of the website or the text on a button, but these can't be measured so Google have chosen to measure what they can including load speed, interactivity and visual stability.

What makes a website seem fast?

As a general rule of thumb, we lose interest after a few seconds of waiting and best practice for website load speeds follow these guidelines:

~0.1 seconds
No special feedback is necessary except to display the result
~1.0 seconds
Normally, no special feedback is necessary, but the user does not lose the feeling of operating directly on the data
~10 seconds
For longer delays, they should be given feedback indicating when the computer expects to be finished

Most of the web today is slower than we will wait for and this is Google's focus.

There are three types of metrics for Core Web Vitals

Website Load Speed
Google are looking for 3-4 seconds as best practice and anything less than 2.5 seconds is considered good. How long does it take for the biggest thing on the page to load?
Interactivity
Touch and Scroll, how long do you need to wait for something to happen e.g. buttons to become active, videos to play. How long do I have to wait for something to happen? If it goes over 0.1 seconds users will notice.
Visual Stability
Visual Stability on the site is a measure that Google have invented. How much do content areas move? We have all been on websites when an advert appears and the content all moves down! Google's target is less than 0.1.

These are the Core Web Vitals that Google will be measuring and they will be adding to their existing search algorithms for Mobile Friendly, Safe Browsing, HTTPS and Intrusive Interstitials, from May 2021.

Potential Icon/Indicator from Google

Google have suggested and are testing indicators they may add to their search results. This is not confirmed by Google but it is highly likely that they will implement this change!

The icon will tell users whether the website in the search result is a good experience, a five star experience and passes Google's Web Vitals metrics. Any sensible site owner will want this next to their site in the search results.

1. Optimise your page Meta Titles and Descriptions

Setting up Meta Information has been a staple of SEO for many years but it still amazes us how many websites we come across that have no title or description setup on any of their web pages.

Meta Information, or Meta Tags, are snippets of information that describe the page's content; they help inform the search engines what a web page is all about. They do not display on the page itself, but only appear in the source code – you can see the Meta Title and Description of a web page on all search engine listings and is the title that you click on to visit the website and the few lines of text below (see screenshot).

Each web page should have its own unique title and description, packed full of key search terms and phrases relevant to the content shown on the corresponding page.

2. Make Sure Pages Load Fast!

We all know how annoying it is when a website takes ages to load! And, we often leave sites that are slow loading as it is either a bad experience, or the site seems untrustworthy! In fact, if a website takes more than 3 seconds to load, 40% of visitors will abandon the site and 80% will not return.

Get rid of non essential elements or plugins you don't need, optimise your images (see TIP 8) and make sure your domain is configured properly. Every improvement you make can increase the number of visitors to your website.

3. Content Will Always be KING

Content quality and uniqueness has always been a critical factor for ranking and SEO success.

Never copy content from other websites
Always use your own unique content (or use a professional copywriter)

Extra Tip : Write for humans first and the search engines second. Try and include key terms of course, but remember, search engines are just robots and do not have credit cards, it is more important to engage the reader and the rankings will come.

Once you have added content to your website, for a particular service for example, it is unlikely to change. However, if you can, try and keep it fresh by updating it every now and then. We always recommend adding reviews or a blog to a website as an easy way to regularly add new unique content to your site. 4. Use More Headers and Use them Properly

Another old but gold one. Headings are used to help visitors find exactly what they are looking for on the page. They add structure and signposts for the reader and more often than not, they will contain keywords or key phrases that you want that page to be found for.

How to use them

You are likely to see different levels of headings when editing a website H1 (Heading 1) to H6 (Heading 6). These are ordered by size/importance. H1 would be your main title and H2-H6 would be used for sub headings and can be used for each separate topic on a page.

Extra Tip: Never use more than one H1 heading on a page.

5. Focus on Using Simple, Readable Page URL's

Although it is quite long, it is easy for our readers and the search engines to understand. There are spaces, denoted by the hyphen, between each word and it contains key terms we think people may search for when looking for SEO help.

This is how your URL's should be structured. Avoid using numbers or characters that will make it hard for the search engines and users to know what is on the page. Try and use the keywords, phrases or locations relevant to the page content.

6. Links to and From Your Website

Most people are aware that links to your website are good for SEO. We would always encourage you create high-quality links to your website from your social media profiles, customers, blog sites, online directories etc. However, it is important to remember that linking to these sites from yours, you will find that more people will link back to your site naturally.

7. Make Sure Your Site is Secure

Google wants a completely secure web in the future. Therefore, it is paramount that the data passed to and from your website is secure and encrypted. Adding an SSL certificate to your site to provide a secure connection between your visitors and your website will identify your site as safe for the search engines to crawl.

9. Local Search Listings Play an Increasingly Large Role in SEO

Although the internet is global, most users are searching for products and services local to them, whether it's a local plumber or a local nursery.

Local SEO has long been important but it is now even more important due to the increase in zero-click searches e.g. the user find the answer to their search query in the search engine listings without having to visit a website, like the phone number of a local restaurant.

Make sure you have created a Google My Business page . If you already have one, make sure all of the contact details are correct and encourage your customers to leave you positive reviews.

Schema Markup — What it is & How to Add it to your Website

Schema markup can be one of the most confusing components of the SEO world due to its inherently technical nature. It is not something that can be seen on a webpage by visitors and there is no an easy way to know if it is working correctly once in place. Let us try and demystify some of that for you in this post.

Here is a summary of what schema markup is and how you can add it to your website:

Schema markup is micro-data that makes it easier for search engines, crawlers and browsers to understand what is on a webpage
There are 1000's of types of schema markup designed to represent different kinds of ‘stuff’ (including individual nouns and verbs) that may be searched for online
Implementing schema effectively requires four key steps:

Understanding of the type of data you can represent on a webpage
Using a tool to generate the schema markup
Embedding the schema markup on a specific page
Testing it with Google or Bing structured data testing tool

Now let’s dive in...

WHAT IS SCHEMA MARKUP?

Schema markup, as it is used today on the internet, enables robots that crawl your website to more easily understand the content on the page in a language that makes sense to them. Schema does this by giving a structured way for robots/crawlers to define the types of information and data present on the page.

When a robot, like Google, crawls a website, they have a hard time understanding the content within the webpage. This is because of the way websites are designed and built today. This may come as a surprise to some, but HTML and CSS actually make for a very unstructured system. However, this makes sense if you think about it — designed websites are built for humans and not for robots.

Schema is an open-source initiative by the web community to help define commonly represented things with a structured, predictable system. You can read the many types of schema at schema.org. Now, we would not recommend that you spend time on schema.org . The website is very confusing and you will quickly get lost in the detail, or just get bored and leave.

WHAT SCHEMA MARKUP SHOULD YOU USE?

There are 1000's of different types of schema that exist on the schema.org website. One common misconception about schema is that it’s intended to represent everything that could be searched for on the internet — but this is not true. Schema.org only attempts to find a structured way of representing the most common things that are used or searched for on the web.

One point of clarification: when people use the term ‘stuff’ in relation to schema, they are referring to types of information that schema looks to represent. These can be nouns (people, places, or things) or verbs (actions). As an example, schema can represent a hospital or a travel agency. Or It can represent an action, like listening to a podcast. It is confusing, and honestly, we think most people should ignore all that complexity and different types of schema that exist.

Additionally, we strongly recommend that only use schema where it has an impact . Today, that only means influencing search engines like Google and Bing. Both Google and Bing understand and read schema. They use it to be sure they understand the content on the page and then they use that certainty to display special features on the search results page.

You’d likely have the same data on a webpage, but this allows you to surface it quicker to the searcher.

The best way to figure out what types of schema you should use is on the search gallery pages of Google and Bing . The most common ones are:

LocalBusiness/Organisatiion : This tells Search Engines facts about the business, such as hours they are open, address, phone numbers and more

FAQs : A list of questions and answers about the website or content on the page

Product : This is great for eCommerce websites, where products are marked up with the price, quantity in stock, reviews and other important details

Breadcrumbs : Breadcrumbs give search engines a better way to understand how a specific page fits into the overall structure of the website

HOW TO IMPLEMENT SCHEMA MARKUP ON A WEBSITE

You should follow these steps to understand how to implement schema markup:

Understand the type of data you can represent on a webpage with schema
Use a tool to generate the schema markup
Embed the schema markup on that specific page
Test it with Google or Bing structured data testing tool

So that is the overview; here are the details...

The first thing to understand is the type of data you can represent with schema. We recommend you browse through Google’s gallery of supported types to find one that matches. Note that schema should only be implemented on a single page and any schema you implement should represent something that is displayed on the same page .

After you know what type of schema you want to implement, we recommend using a tool to generate the schema markup.

*Note about schema flavours or vocabulary: There are different ways to represent schema like RDFa, Micro-data and LD+JSON. We recommend you focus only on LD+JSON because it is the easiest to read and update. It is also the most modern.*

Here is a run down of different tools to use:

Google’s Structured Markup Helper . This tool allows you to choose the type of schema you want to create and then helps you visually select the data from the webpage you want to grab it from. This is great if the website is already live and you want to simply select the data on the website. That being said, it is a bit clunky to use.

Merkle’s Technical SEO Schema Generator : This is one of the best tools to use. You can quickly select the type of schema you want to generate and then it’s easy to use text fields to fill in that data.

Rank Ranger’s Schema Generator : This is another simple tool to generate schema quickly by entering a range of text input boxes.

After you have selected the type of schema you want to use and filled in the correct data, they give you an option to copy the code. This code embed will need to be placed directly into your website CMS. Here is an example of filled-in ‘Local Business’ data and the generated schema code:

After you’ve copied the code, you will want to embed this within a web-page of your website. You can do this by logging into your CMS and including it in the markup of the page, usually in the header or footer HTML section.

It should be noted that each CMS is different here. It does not matter where in the page (such as header or footer) you place the code.

After you’ve installed the schema markup, you should publish or deploy the changes and test. You can test with Google’s Structured Data testing tool by entering the exact page URL and having Google find the schema they see.

Key requirements included the ability to easily update the website content themselves, a website that is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the website must be hosted on an SSL secure platform and be fully device responsive.

New website for Archway Veterinary Centre

There has long been a Veterinary practice at Old Forge Court, the site of Chepstow surgery, established by John Boutflower and John McEwan.

The partnership grew over several decades, and became the Veterinary Health Centre, with the associated Cross Country Equine Clinic in Devauden (Partners David Thompson and Nick West).

In 2014 the Veterinary Health Centre became a stand alone small animal practice under the leadership of Andrea Reynolds, and has continued to thrive as a proudly independent Veterinary practice.

This year they have rebranded to use the company name Archway Veterinary Centre- they hope you like the new look! Rest assured it is still the same faces inside, still committed to providing a patient-first approach that they believe all pets deserve.

Online food ordering for the community

Literally overnight many restaurant and pub owners have been forced to decide whether to close their doors or transition to carry-out and/or delivery. Trying to identify the best way to handle online ordering is overwhelming and can be expensive.

So we got to thinking about how we could help those restaurant and pub owners who's livelihood depends on keeping the doors open. We wanted to find a way to help support our communities, and so decided to offer free online ordering websites to any restaurant or pub owners affected by COVID-19. All they have to pay is a small fee to cover the cost of hosting.

The solution allows food orders to be taken online for collection or delivery through a website or Facebook page and includes a mobile app to manage and process orders. You can setup your own menu and order preferences e.g. opening hours, collection only, delivery within 5 miles, cash/card on collection etc. All orders placed via the website will be delivered straight to the app on your phone or tablet, for you to accept/reject and provide delivery/collection times.

Keep your business information up to date on Google

We are often asked if we can make changes to our customers business information that displays on Google. This can be to improve the ranking in the map listing or because the address, phone number or description of the businesses is incorrect.

The Google business listing is something that you can manage yourself. It is really important that your business information can be found on Google and it is accurate. You can change your address, opening hours, contact information and photos to help potential customers find you and learn more about your business.

Encouraging your customers to review your business can also help improve your ranking and help drive new business.

If you haven’t already added or claimed your business you can verify your business listing so that it is eligible to appear on Google search, maps and other Google services. Your edits will not appear live on Google until you verify your listing.

Google Chrome pushes the importance of HTTPS

Over the past few years, Google has thrown out a lot of inducements to convince business owners to convert their websites to HTTPS, for example making encryption a positive SEO ranking factor. They have also used some sticks, such as announcing to website visitors that the website is running over HTTP and it is insecure. Now they have gone a step further; but at Website Sorted we are prepared.

According to this short blog post posted on Google’s Chromium Blog by Emily Shecter of the Chrome Security Team:-

“In January, we began our quest to improve how Chrome communicates the connection security of HTTP pages. Chrome now marks HTTP pages as “Not secure” if they have password or credit card fields. Beginning in October 2017, Chrome will show the “Not secure” warning in two additional situations: when users enter data on an HTTP page, and on all HTTP pages visited in Incognito mode . ”

This means that any website with a contact form will be identified as insecure. Google has also made it clear that this is not their end goal. Further in the post, she says:-

“Eventually, we plan to show the “Not secure” warning for all HTTP pages, even outside Incognito mode. We will publish updates as we approach future releases, but don’t wait to get started moving to HTTPS!”

Research carried out by HubSpot suggests that 82% of people surveyed will not browse unsecured pages .

Google is determined to make unsecure HTTP websites a thing of the past and we are in full agreement. A more secure internet is better for everybody and that is why Website Sorted are offering HTTPS encryption FREE with every website we build.

New website for UK Carbody in Bristol

UK Carbody is a BSI Kitemark-accredited car body shop with a excellent reputation for high quality car body repairs in Bristol and the surrounding areas. The body shop is located within Bristol city centre, 5 minutes from the M32.

UK Carbody were looking to replace their existing website and were recommended by Independent Welding services, an existing Website Sorted client.

The brief was a simple one "We need to improve our old website and make it mobile friendly".

Welsh design agency Plaingraffic ( www.plaingraffic.com ) are based just outside Cardiff and we have worked closely with them over the past few years on numerous projects whilst developing our client base in Cardiff and South Wales.

Plaingraffic develop strategy, design and production solutions for all types of businesses. From developing the initial brand and logo for start up companies, refining existing brands, and working on creative marketing literature for large national companies such as Respond Healthcare, they are more than just a Graphic design company.

Gareth Pugh, Director at Plaingraffic, approached us with an idea to update their existing website to a portfolio based website that cleanly showcases the wide range of projects they have worked on. The website steps away from the norm by presenting the services they offer in the form of portfolios across the site rather than your typical services page. New brochure website for Elite Financial Consultants

Last week we launched a new brochure website for Elite Financial Consultants who offer financial services to both domestic and commercial customers including advice on pensions, mortgages, insurance, funeral plan advice, savings and investments.

Website Sorted were asked to design and build a responsive website solution that makes them 'stand out from the crowd' and not follow the typical stuffy approach taken by the financial services sector. In addition, a content management system and integrated blog were requested with Business Sorted managing the website optimisation.

We have launched two fully responsive websites this week. One for CR Plus Ltd an existing client of four years who upgraded to a responsive website and the other a new client Air Brake Direct Ltd. Both clients taking advantage of our brand new 'state of the art' Content Management System (CMS).

The new CMS gives them both huge flexibility when it comes to editing their site content. The system has an abundance or fantastic features to enhance the functionality, is intuitive and user friendly.

Make sure your domain names are verified

For those of you that do not know, Nominet, the domain regsitry for all .uk domain names introduced a new ' Data Quality Policy' whereby all registered domains need the registrants name, address and contact details to be verfied. The verification proccess is a legal requirement and where it is not provided your domain could be suspended after 30 days. And after 60 days, released back to the open market.

We register the majoriy of our clients domains for them, however, have come accross issues whereby domains registered by clients a number of years ago have not been verified, meaning their domain was suspended until we were able to resolve the issue for them.

To avoid any problems:

When registering a domain and filling out your contact details, you must make sure that the information provided is accurate and in the following format:

Registrant Name (first + last name)

A valid, registrant name (your name) must be used
The name must contain at least 4 characters and of these, 3 or more must be letters.

Address Format

Your street name must contain non-numeric information (not just a number)
Your town or city
Your country
Your Post Code

Phone Number Format

A phone number must be supplied, and must be in the following format:
Begin the number with a “+”
Followed with a country code e.g. +44, +33, +1)
And the actual digits after country code (without any initial ‘0’)

Email Format

Email provided must be valid - we recommend an address you use regularly
Must contain an’@’
End with a valid TLD (Top Level Domain) e.g. co.uk, .com
Contain at least one character before the “@”
Must not have any trailing or leading spaces
